Participants included clients, members of local Memory Cafes, aged care providers, business partners, and VIPs such as Geoff Baker, MLA for South Perth, and South Perth Mayor Greg Milner. The event was MC’d by Tina Altieri of Channel 7, who brought her dedication and advocacy for the cause.
Walkers enjoyed an evening of live music, food trucks, giant games, door prizes and also had the opportunity to honour their loved ones through a message on our memory wall.
This year’s theme ‘Who are you walking for?’ aimed to ensure that no one facing dementia has to walk the journey alone, and the gathering provided a unique opportunity for attendees to forge new connections and celebrate existing ones. We thank Numero, WA Police and Brightside Live for all their support in bringing this event to life.
The 2024 walk saw participation from diverse groups including the Lovett team, Parrellas, Cathy’s Crew, Gazza’s Gang, the Flip Flops, local Rotary clubs, and the Red Hot Chilli Steppers. Many walkers attended in memory of loved ones, raising essential funds to support the research of a dementia cure.
Looking ahead, Alzheimer’s WA is setting a target of 1,000 walkers for the 2025 Walk to Remember. This goal aligns with our vision of increasing community capacities to support individuals and families affected by dementia all over Australia.
