Walk to Remember

If you would like to get involved and support people living with dementia, we have a variety of campaigns for you to take part in that will make a world of difference.

Walk to Remember

The heart will remember what the mind may forget.

As the leading cause of death for women in Australia and the second leading cause for men, we all know someone who has been impacted by dementia.

The Alzheimer’s WA Walk to Remember is the premier fundraising event in Western Australia supporting people living with dementia and their carers and families. The Walk allows participants to choose their challenge: 1km, 3km, or 5km in honour of those who have walked beside us, those who cannot walk for themselves, and those we remember with love.

Funds raised will support Alzheimer’s WA’s mission to advocate for and improve the lives of the 48,000 Western Australians living with dementia, including those supported in their homes, communities, and aged care settings. “Alzheimer’s WA has been fortunate to have amazing community support in its 40+ year history. With ongoing support, we can continue to provide essential services and improved facilities for people living with dementia in Western Australia says Ella Dachs, CEO

The event is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, with live band entertainment, activities, market stalls, and food trucks. Children, families, and pets are warmly welcomed.

Dementia is a lived experience, and with more than 60% of people living with dementia still in their own homes, it is vital to have the support of local communities.  The Cook Government’s election commitment to a State Dementia Action Plan is a significant investment in the future of a dementia friendly State “ says Professor Warren Harding AM, Chair of Alzheimer’s WA. With the dedication of our walkers, Alzheimer’s WA aims to raise funds to enhance the lived experience of people on the dementia pathway — including carers, families, friends, and support networks – as well as continue to research early dementia detection and lifestyle risk factors

The event is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, with live band entertainment, activities, market stalls, and food trucks. Children, families, and pets are warmly welcomed. Entry is $35 per person, which includes a Walk to Remember T-shirt and water bottle.  Children under 12 can walk for free.

Every step counts. Every dollar helps.  Together, we are building a dementia-friendly WA.
