WA’s leading dementia care organisation, Alzheimer’s WA held its 2024 Annual General Meeting to a full capacity audience at Lottery West in West Perth last Thursday. The 2023 – 2024 Annual Report highlighted “Connected Care in the Community” and summarised our key client and carer activities. Another strong financial performance for the year with the report delivered by AWA Chairman, Professor Warren Harding, AM. The Chair was pleased with the unanimous support from Members and their full endorsement of the mandate for growth.
AWA is delighted to announce the reappointment of the following Board Members:
Prof Warren Harding AM – Chairman
Dr. Sean Maher – Deputy Chair and Honorary Medical Director
Mr. Mathew Budge – Finance Director
It was pleasing also to have lifetime Board members, Craig Masarei and Lynette Chester AM attended the meeting.
The AGM showcased significant milestones such as the opening of Walker House Respite, Woodvale; the expansion Respite Services in Albany, Dementia Symposium and Walk To Remember Events.
Alzheimer’s WA was also pleased to present an emerging relationship with Dementia India Alliance that will build capacity and capability on an international level.
CEO, Ella Dachs, thanked our valued Members including lifetime members, volunteers, clients and Alzheimer’s WA staff for their ongoing hard work and dedication, and our highly respected Board members, for their significant contribution and vision. Long serving staff member, Jean George, 81 years old, was also presented with a long service award following 28 years with AWA.
Professor Warren Harding, AM was delighted to announce the appointment of Penny Keeley as a new Board Member effective January 1, 2025 and thanked Dr Dona Jayakody, speaker from the Ear Science Institute Australia.
